Most people experience different types of eye disorders from time to time, and vision problems tend to increase with age.
Actually, according to a report from AAO – American Academy of Ophthalmology, more than 43 million people in the United States will develop age-related eye diseases by 2020.
Myopia
Better known as nearsightedness, myopia is a vision condition in which individuals can see close objects clearly, but objects farther away appear blurred.
According to statistics, over 80 million people in the United States are nearsighted, with 1.0 diopters or more.
Nearsightedness usually starts in childhood and you may have a higher risk if your parents are having this problem.
Glaucoma
It is a disorder that causes damage to your eye’s optic nerve (also called the second cranial nerve) and gets worse over time.
Glaucoma currently affects nearly 3 million people ages 40 and older in the US. According to the World Health Organization, glaucoma is the 2nd leading cause of blindness in the world.
When this condition progresses, injury to neurons ultimately leads to eye damage in the form of peripheral vision loss, a condition known as tunnel vision.
Strabismus
It is a condition in which both eyes do not line up in the same direction. It is estimated that 4 percent of the United States population has strabismus.
This eye problem commonly develops in young children and infants, most often by age three. However, older children and adults can experience this disorder as well.
Astigmatism
It is an imperfection in the curvature of the eye’s lens or cornea.
Astigmatism commonly causes vision to be distorted or blurred to some degree at all distances. It can affect people of any age.
Eye Problems – Spiritual Causes and Meaning
In general, eye problems indicate the fear of the future, the fear of looking ahead, and the fact that in a previous experience the individual did not want to see or help others.
Spiritual Meaning of Glaucoma
Weak vision is caused by hatred against a woman or man.
Purification is possible through different spiritual practices. Attachment to relationships and ideals also weakens the vision.
Glaucoma, in particular, is caused by issues of unforgiveness extended over a long period of time.
When you love the world more than you love the Divinity, you may lose your sight. Many people in old age lose sight because they bind too much to this world.

Spiritual Meaning of Myopia (Nearsightedness)
The cause of myopia is the deformation of the field structures at the head, caused by the feeling of hatred, the lack of complacency, and fear of seeing ahead. One main cause is aggression as a result of jealousy.
If the individual’s character is more rigid and hidden, then the aggression penetrates the subconscious easier and becomes more dangerous.
If we add envy, vanity, and cruelty, then the individual may be affected by a self-destructive program that manifests itself with retinal rupture or blindness, or severe cranial trauma.
Spiritual Meaning of Strabismus
Strabismus is a kind of unilateral vision in which you see everything from one point of view and in which things seem flat and two-dimensional.
To become a whole, you must try to learn about the other sides of things and, at the same time, to accept them.
Try to see in another dimension of reality without excluding certain aspects of it.
Illness will force you to be honest with yourself and at the same time, it will reveal your shortcomings.
Pay attention to what your body has to say and you will discover the beauty and the ability to see all aspects of life.

Spiritual Meaning of Astigmatism
Astigmatism occurs when we have been overly curious ever since childhood.
Our desire to see and learn everything has “exhausted” our sight and the rush to know everything has somewhat strained our visual perception.
It may also be a clue that we can not or do not want to see our own beauty and value.
Healing Affirmations
“Every time I blink, my eyes are getting stronger and clearer.”
”I am safe in the here and now. I see that clearly now.”
”I know that my life experiences lead me to a clear vision.”
”My eyes are strong and my vision is sharp.”
”Every part of my body carries out its tasks naturally and easily.”
”I allow my body to become an environment for healing and health.”

Prevention
While not all eye problems can be prevented, there are simple methods that everyone can apply to help their eyes remain healthy in the present moment and lower their chances of vision loss in the future.
Nutrition
Many studies concluded that eating a healthy diet, especially fruits (dark-red colored fruits contain resveratrol), green leafy vegetables (such as kale, spinach, or collard greens), nuts, seeds, and legumes, promotes eye health and may also help to lower your risk of developing other life-threatening conditions.
In particular, green leafy vegetables provide the nutrients zeaxanthin and lutein, which help reduce the risk of eye diseases.
Eye Protection
Wear durable eye protection when involved in activities that could cause traumatic risk to your vision, like – playing paintball or dealing with firearms.
Sunglasses are much more than “cool shades.” They are protective barriers that protect against exposure to ultraviolet light, a part of the sun’s rays that may cause such eye problems, as – macular degeneration and cataracts.
Weight Loss
Maintain a healthy weight.
Being overweight (especially obese) increases your chance of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus, which ultimately leads to diabetic eye diseases (which include diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and cataract).

Makeup
Avoid using eye makeup. Mascara and eyeliner can block the glands in the eyelids and cause the area around your eyes to become inflamed.
Computer & TV
If you regularly use a computer, make sure your computer workstation is set up correctly to minimize eye strain.
Your monitor should stand at eye level or just below it.
Spend Time In Nature
Research has found that spending more time outdoors may help reduce or prevent the progression of myopia in children.
